In which I undertake NaNoWriMo

I originally wrote half of this blog post about a week ago now, but for some reason I never finished it. I'm doing NaNoWriMo. Yup, that's right. I'm writing 50,000 words in 30 days, to help me with my book. So far I've written 27k words. Life is good.

As for school... well, it's the same old, same old Apart from the fact that I'm now doing my French GCSE in January. Also I had a Drama assessment a few days ago. It went pretty well.

We did the play 'Top Girls' by Carol Churchill. There's an adaptation on at the moment in the West End, and it was so freaking difficult to do. I actually didn't think we were going to pass it. None of us could do the whole thing through without a line prompt. So when it came to the performance... well, we skipped a few pages, but apart from that we managed to get through without a problem. Thank goodness for that, that's all I have to say!

I have a Biology retake next Tuesday for B1a. I got a very high B on it but I'm expected to get an A* or something ridiculous so I have to redo. I'm not alone though, something like 60 people in the year are doing it with me. I'm just going to put it down to the fact that it was a stupid paper and leave it at that. I've done pretty much one revision session so far. God help me. I just haven't had the time!

Anyways, I better go and write some more of my book. Mocks on the 28th, aaahhh! Peace out y'all!

In Which I fail.

It's been about two weeks since I've last written. I often make excuses for being busy and I'm going to have to do the same now. Year 11 is... wow. I didn't expect it to be such a step up from Year 10 to 11. I prepared myself for that last year; when it didn't happen I let my guard down and now it's a struggle to  get on top of things. But I'm managing somehow.

We're coming to the end of the first half term now. Thoughts? Well, it's gone by so quickly, and I've already had a heap of exams, and even more in the next half term. I had my French oral BTW, and it went pretty well, even if I did mess up a little in the middle. I got an A for it, half a mark off an A* as well xD damn! As for my English exam that went pretty well as well, although I don't think the persuasive speech I had to write was quite as good as my essay :L

Next term I have my Drama play pretty much the first week into half term. I'll post more about that near the time but I have so many lines that it's not even funny. Trying to learn them is so difficult, what with everything else we have going on, but now that we have half term coming up hopefully I'll have some time to learn them then.

I've started sending off application forms to colleges and going to open evenings as well. For A-Level I want to do English, History, French and Psychology. I wanted to do Classical Civilisation as well, but I was advised by one of my brother's friends just to do four instead and get a part time job. Speaking of which, I have another form that I need to try and complete, as well as a song I need to finish writing and composing for my band, so I should probably go. See you guys soon! I'm going on holiday on Friday so it'll probably be the Saturday when I next talk to you!

In which I make too many promises

I realise that it's been more than a week since I last posted. Once again Year 11 has become even busier, and I've already found myself weighed down by homework and revision. I've decided that I'm not going to start revising for my Biology retake until October by the earliest, but a lot of teachers like us to start going over stuff now (in preparation for mocks and, ultimately, study leave in May). This is why I have my Chemistry textbook open now in front of me on page 114 - the beginnings of Additional Chemistry, where a double page spread on atomic structure grins back at me. It'll be nice to get it all in my head again. We're currently studying electrolysis about 70 pages on from that, and things are becoming pretty confusing seeing as I don't remember the basics of things like Ionic bonding.

Our teachers would like us to be studying every night but my parents and I both agree that this is not needed and will only tire me out. I get home from school at 4 o'clock on a normal day, apart from Mondays when I have French Media club (in which I get home at 5:30 or thereabouts), or Wednesdays when I have band practise and then extra French tutoring (7pm normally). Sometimes I don't get home 'till about 5 on Tuesdays because my mum has to come and pick me up from her college. After that I have to do my homework and then make myself dinner, which keeps me busy 'till about 8 or 9, when by then my mind is already starting to drift off into a secluded state of unconsciousness, so anything academic or rigorous I try to do then just fails completely. So therefore I've decided I'm going to do a little review in each subject at the weekend. Two hours per Saturday and Sunday isn't bad I don't think.

Anyways, the reason for the title of this journal post is because it's getting up to the time when I'm supposed to start choosing A-Levels (if I even make it that far!) Teachers have already started scouting round for who  they think should be doing their subject as an A-Level... and sadly they've all zoned in on me. I've now accidentally promised various teachers that I'm going to do English Language, English Literature, Drama, Biology, Maths and French for A-Level. In theory I actually only want to do three of those six. My options are: English Language, English Literature, French, History, Psychology and maybe something like Philosophy or Classical Civilisation. Hmm, A-Level options evening should be... interesting...

I'm already procrastinating!

I'm writing this at 11:30pm on Friday September 2nd. In effect I was actually meant to start this blog approximately 2 days ago but meh, things came up. Things that involved my friend and I going on a daring excursion to London and hopping on a tube with no idea where we were going :') hence why I didn't write anything yesterday. Or the day before yesterday. Who knows!

I feel as if I should introduce myself. My internet name is Suki. I'm currently 15 years old and I just finished Year 10 at my school somewhere in the south of England. If I'm honest, I probably qualify as a bit of a dork (currently staring at a poster of my dear Matt Smith as the Doctor from Doctor Who while I type this on my iPod) but it's a good type of dork (: I enjoy writing, reading, listening to and playing music (I play piano and rhythm/lead guitar in our awesome band) and martial arts. I'm doing either 9 or 10 GCSEs, I can't quite remember, although I think it's 9. They are English Lit&Lang, Maths, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, French, History, Drama and Music. Wait, is that 10? I guess it depends if English counts as 2 separate GCSEs or not...

My best subjects are probably English and French, although I'm not too shabby at History and Maths either. My worst are definitely the Sciences. In year 10 I took 3 English modules and got A* on all of them. I took 2 modules for the separate sciences and at the moment I'm on a high B in Biology and Chemistry and an A in Physics (somehow!)
